Copypants began when two friends understood how much pain it brought to photographers when people used their work without permission, how much money was being lost, as well as the troubles that came from having to deal with copyright problems. The goal was to make things really simple - to change the way we think about ownership and the way we think about copyright. We wanted people to know where all of their work was online so that they could interact with those people using their images in a positive way. In September of 2015, we assembled a team together to build the tool. We took feedback from hundreds of photographers in order to understand the problem and how to solve it. 4 months later, in January 2016, we released a limited beta that helped us further understand how to make it better. Copypants wants to have state-of-the-art technology for image matching so we have created our own machine learning-based system to compare trillions of images. This allows us to find copies of your work faster and more accurately. Copypants is committed to improving the way the Internet works. At Copypants, we use a combination of tried-and-true and cutting-edge technology to find matches of your images as accurately and quickly as possible. Our technology allows us to find matches even if the image has been modified - including resized, cropped, or greyscaled. We are continually performing research to improve the quality of our match results so that you will see more matches, with fewer false positives, sooner. Copypants' goal is to bring creators peace of mind by helping them grow their business online, so that all creators can make a fair living while the Internet shares their work.
