SpeediFly

Catalyst for spontaneous travel for Millennials

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

SpeediFly is a London-based travel startup that is currently being incubated at the leading Central European seed tech accelerator – StartupYard. SpeediFly is for spontaneous travellers who want to get away last minute, but don’t know where they can go on a budget. It is a mobile travel discovery platform that locates the customer and finds for him the 15 cheapest flights departing and returning to the nearest airport in the upcoming 10 days. Unlike clunky old-fashioned search engines, SpeediFly has a social dimension that lets travellers invite their Facebook friends to join the platform, build their own travel communities and invite friends to join them on particular trips. In comparison to any other travel platform, SpeediFly will allow groups of travellers to book flights together and split the bill, just like Uber does with Split Fare. On top of that, SpeediFly will allow travellers to see who else from the SpeediFly community is on the same flight and will thus stimulate social interaction through the app. During the optional registration process, the customer can indicate his preferences for activities, sports, music and culture, based on which the app will constantly provide him with an updated list of recommended deals. So, if a user is an R&B fan, SpeediFly will notify him if a famous R&B artist like Beyonce or Drake is performing and if there is a cheap flight to that location. On 27 March, 2016 SpeediFly is launching in London – a city served by six airports, with direct flights to more than 320 destinations in Europe. Our target customers are London’s Millennials, who account for 20% of London’s population. In September, we will release the app in 4 other European cities. The idea of SpeediFly was born in 2015, when Alexander Karadjian, CEO, was working on his graduate thesis project at Harvard. Soon, Alex shared the idea with his long-time friend Stoyan Dobrev, COO, who was in his final year at the Manchester Business School, and with his high school friend Zahari Dichev, who at that time was a trader in London. We think the travel industry is way too focused on selling customers the price and not the experience. We believe that SpeediFly can fix this and transform the culture of travel.
